I am Moving...
My new site is here! I have become very bored with this blog and needed a change. I'm one of the few people I know who actually likes change. It's like I crave it. I know, I'm crazy :) See you on the other side!
Five months ago my life changed drastically when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. As you can imagine, this news was a complete shock, and it has taken me time to adjust to living with the uncertainty of MS. With the support of my family and friends, I have decided to participate in Walk MS 2009 to change uncertainty into hope and to help raise money to create a world free of MS.
Wanna know how long it takes a hot Cuban to install one curtain rod? One hour! I could be exaggerating a little bit though. Maybe it was 30-45 minutes. I am rolling on the floor laughing right now! I just got a new beautiful desk for my office and really needed some curtains. Of course when we got this house there were not curtain rods. I find that a little weird because all the other houses I lived in had them. Anyway, I found some curtains I love and a rod and asked Alberto to hang them for me. The job started off as any would, but then came the not so nice words and big sighs of impatience. Apparently the screws that came with the curtain rod were like 5 feet long and wouldn't screw in all the way. My man, being the ever so creative one, decided that instead of getting shorter screws he would try to break the 5 foot long screw in half with a pair of pliers and a hammer. He put the screw between the pliers and banged the pliers with the hammer. It didn't work. I'm not kidding! I wish I would have taken pictures. It was insane! Maybe he'll let me recreate the event and take a video. Nah, I don't see that happening! Eventually the curtains got hung and they look beautiful. Thanks babe for taking the time to hang them for me and amusing me at the same time!
My grandpa is not doing too well. He was put in the hospital a few days ago and they've determined he has emphysema, asbestos in his lungs, and both of his kidneys are failing. He starts dialysis today, but they won't know if it's working until his second treatment on Wednesday. Since he is 76 years old he is not a candidate for a kidney transplant if the dialysis doesn't work. I just called and talked to him. He says he isn't in pain and actually feels pretty good which is great to hear. But, you can hear the fear in his voice. It's a fear I've never heard from him. He has always been the tough, not really show emotion type. I've never been super close to him due to many reasons, but the past 4 years or so I've seen him every Christmas and a few days here and there in between. I wish now I would have spent more time with him and just got over things that happened in the past. Life is too short to hold grudges and be influenced by what other people say. I'm hoping to be able to head to TX later in the week and visit with him. If you wouldn't mind, please say an extra prayer tonight for him.
I'm trying to get some new ideas for dinner. I'm tired of making the same old things. I have my moments when I'll cook for weeks and then I'll tire out and get bored and not cook for a while. I'd like to cook more and enjoy it more. Do you have any easy, tasty, healthy recipes that include chicken, pork, or even steak? Also, any that include yummy veggies? I'm trying to stay away from lots of red meat... it's so easy to throw something together with red meat, but it's not so good for you. I don't mind eating it maybe a few times a month. Of course, I don't want to spend a lot of money or buy things I'll never fix. I'm hoping some of you out there in blogger world have some ideas or at least know of some great sites I can get recipes from. Let me know!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Tonight we will be celebrating by going to a big party at Riverwind Casino. A local radio station is hosting a huge blowout with great beer specials, a live DJ, dancing, and even some little lucky leprechauns! I can't pass up a St. Patty's celebration... after all, I am half Irish.
